01

What they are

A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device. It lets the site remember what you did, so that moving between pages or coming back later behaves sensibly rather than starting from scratch.

02

The ones the site needs

Some are required for the site to work at all. They keep your session while you are signed in, remember the properties you have saved, hold your search filters as you refine them, and protect forms against cross site request forgery.

These cannot be switched off without breaking the parts of the site that depend on them.

03

Preferences

These remember choices you have made, such as whether you were last looking at the grid or the map, and any consent choice you have given, so that you are not asked again on every page.

04

Measurement

Where analytics are enabled, they tell us which pages get used, which searches return nothing useful, and where people give up. We use that to fix the site. It is aggregated, and we do not use it to identify you personally.

05

Set by other people

Embedded maps and video, and where used social or advertising tools, can set their own once loaded. We do not control those, and their own policies apply. Property portals you reach from our listings set their own as well.

06

Turning them off

Every major browser lets you block or delete them, usually under Privacy or Site settings, and you can set it per site. Blocking the essential ones will stop sign in, saved properties and search from working.

You can also browse in a private window, so that everything is cleared when you close it.
